Fermentation Basics
The garden has wound down and we’ve been working on the harvest. Many things we eat fresh. Some go in the freezer or into a canning jar. Still some of that harvest will benefit from a different preservation process.
Fermentation
Fermentation is one of the oldest forms of food preservation but has fallen out of favor with the prevalence of the refrigerator. This is unfortunate for us because ferments are incredibly good for our gut health. In this session we will talk about some of the science behind ferments, different ferment types and each student will begin the process for a ferment to take home.
